about me

Hello!

I’m Bettina. I’m a director, writer and theatremaker, originally from Malta, based in London. I’ve commissioned, developed, produced, written and directed new plays and contemporary adaptations of classics, in the UK and abroad.

I’m interested in work that explores the human condition - our psychology, identity, relationships, the societal pressures we face. I’m deeply committed to creating theatre that not only entertains but that insights change. Many of the productions I’ve directed, made or written have been accompanied by partner programs that highlight the experience of marginalized communities, and wherever I can, I collaborate with charities relevant to the performance’s themes, to raise awareness.

I began my professional career as an actor at a very young age, which has provided me with a strong foundation in performance and storytelling, and nurturing long-lasting artistic relationships is central to my ethos as a creative. Around ten years ago, I threw myself into directing and writing, honing my craft in new writing and reimagining classic pieces.

I’m a big foodie by the way, I love any excuse to cook or go out to a restaurant. I’ve recently become an avid Guinness drinker too. I get bored quite easily so I seize any opportunity to learn something new, be it painting, learning an instrument or creating a website….

I’m always up for a chat, so don’t hesitate to reach out!

Thanks for being here x
